En Abril se celebra una nueva edición del RE/Mixed Media Festival en Nueva York. Festival con multitud de actividades en relación a la cultura del remix, la apropiación y las políticas de copyright.
En esta edición participo con un trabajo del 2011, Collage City (http://www.mariosantamaria.net/collage-city.html) también me acompañan otros artistas del estado español como Cesar Escudero.

The 9th edition of the Simultan Festival will take place from October 10-12, under the theme 'Popular Unknown'. With this term we intend to define the idea of popularity as social phenomenon in the collective perception. It is known that popularity is a social phenomenon that defines who or what is best liked, the more pervasive something is, the more people have access to it. Since popularity is judged in a social context, the more people who support or know something or someone, the more popular it will then be judged. Interpersonally, people can alter their appearance to change how others perceive them by embezzling their identity.
However, identity is a distinctive characteristic belonging to any individual; the important thing is how an individual views him or herself both as a person and in relation to other people.
The perception we have about our past or future selves is related to the perception of our current self and trough this process we are defining our identities.
'Popular Unknown' wishes to reflect upon different aspects as mass culture vs. underground, cliché vs. originality, hope, obsession, envy, fear, irony, success, failure etc., to define popularity or non-popularity and self-perception.
SIMULTAN is an annual festival dedicated to media art and artistic experiment, creating a bond between different media.
Initiated by a group of artists, the festival was born as an artistic project having the goal to create a cultural context of the 'here and now' on the local scene, encouraging new and innovative forms of artistic expression, as visual and sound language.
Annually, in the 3 days of events, take place video art screenings, audio-visual live performances, experimental music concerts, installations and lectures.
The festival features local artists and projects, as well as national and international artists and projects, with the support of the different cultural centers which activate in Romania. Thus, the event intends to establish new cultural and artistic bonds between the Romanian and the international art scene.

The Videada is a serial event created by elgalpon.espacio that, in its 5th edition, aimed to be an open platform for experimental audiovisual projects that dialogue with the languages of performance art.
The projects included in its 5th edition, were selected by a process of open call, and represent a sample of the current research and development of the performative practices linked to audiovisual languages, closing gaps among both disciplines.
As independent art managers, elgalpon.espacio wants to generate a platform for exchange and networking between artists and audiences. With the Videada.05, they intend to disseminate the wide variety of research, experimentation and risk of the pieces, beyond their technical qualities and comfort zones.
The selection was conducted by Jorge Baldeón and Diana Collazos (multidisciplinary artists and elgalpon.espacio managers) and Juan Daniel Molero (Filmmaker and cultural manager) in the city of Lima.

El 3 de Mayo la gente de Elgalpon Espacio llevan su selección de vídeos 5 VIDEADA a La cueva Berlín

Este 03 de Mayo invitamos a todos y todas a La Cueva en Kreuzberg/ Berlín a la 5 VIDEADA, que tiene como objetivo mostrar una muestra de trabajos audiovisuales cercanos a la performance art o arte acción.
En esta 5 edición hemos convocado abiertamente a todos y todas los/as artistas, comunicadores y ciudadanos en general que tengan un trabajo en relación a la videoperfomance, videorte o video-experimentación y que querían compartirlo con un público diverso.
Hemos recibido mas de 70 propuestas de Brasil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, España, Estados Unidos de América, México y Perú, teniendo una difícil tarea de selección, cuyo criterio no pretende dar un diagnóstico de lo que sucede en el panorama del arte contemporáneo latinoamericano, sino mas bien servir de una plataforma de encuentro entre creadores.
El primer visionado de este material se realizó en nuestro espacio en Lima-Perú, el 24 de Abril.
elgalpon.espacio es un proyecto de autogestión en difusión, producción y formación de proyectos interdisciplinarios, concentrándonos en la performance art o arte acción.
